7. CLOSER TO THE STARS (cd 2006) chaos007
Closer To The Stars contains a slightly ecclectic mix of pop, rock and electronics. Mixed with the special tastes of Expanding Chaos. The lyrics is mostly about longing and lost love. About not reaching where you want or reaching who you want. Sometimes it's declarations of love disguised in astronomical terms.
The main recording was done in about two weeks and the band had a good time in Frousoubourg (where the album was recorded). The vocals are unfortunately the weakest link in this recording and should be considered temporary. The band is looking for a vocalist and are very finicky about finding the right one. Until then Markus will handle the vocals as good as he can.
The songs have been heard in demo-versions on earlier album Project 2:16 from 2001, when all music and lyric were written. By different reasons, mostly lack of time, there were no proper recordings of the songs until now. So both the albums Notangotech and Time To Leave were recorded before this was finally finished.
This album will be the last pop album for Expanding Chaos for a while, since the band states that the next album will be much harder.
